Eighteen sculptors, between masters and apprentices, have brought to life more than 30 Moai (statues), expressing their soul through technical detail and history which give a significance to each work of art. The leader of the carving workshop is the artist, Cristian Arevalo-Pakarati, the creator of the illustrations of the Moai for the Easter Island Statue Project.
The sculptors Ruso Hey, Pau Hereveri and Nano Ika, together with the carvers Haumoana Hey, Nacho Ika, Teva, Robinson Tepano, Bruno Pakomio and Joaquin Rapu, take part in this show, open from Monday through Saturday from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. at Mana Gallery Rapa Nui, located on Petero Atamu Street, in front of the cemetery.[/et_pb_text][/et_pb_column][/et_pb_row][et_pb_row custom_padding=”0px|||||” _builder_version=”3.23.3″][et_pb_column type=”1_2″ _builder_version=”3.23.3″][et_pb_code _builder_version=”3.23.3″][bsa_pro_ad_space id=3][/et_pb_code][/et_pb_column][et_pb_column type=”1_2″ _builder_version=”3.23.3″][et_pb_code _builder_version=”3.23.3″][bsa_pro_ad_space id=2][/et_pb_code][/et_pb_column][/et_pb_row][/et_pb_section][et_pb_section fb_built=”1″ fullwidth=”on” _builder_version=”3.23.3″][et_pb_fullwidth_image src=”https://moevarua.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/07/foto-1.jpg” _builder_version=”3.23.3″][/et_pb_fullwidth_image][et_pb_fullwidth_image src=”https://moevarua.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/07/final-1-1.jpg” _builder_version=”3.23.3″][/et_pb_fullwidth_image][/et_pb_section][et_pb_section fb_built=”1″ _builder_version=”3.23.3″ background_color=”#000000″ custom_padding=”0px||0px|||”][et_pb_row custom_padding=”||0px|||” _builder_version=”3.23.3″][et_pb_column type=”4_4″ _builder_version=”3.23.3″][et_pb_text _builder_version=”3.23.3″ text_font=”||||||||” text_text_color=”#ffffff” text_font_size=”15px”]Accompanying the show of sculpture is one of the art of recycling the buoys collected from the coast of the Island, which come off of industrial fishing ships – Japanese, Russian, Chinese, Dutch, Spanish, some of them illegal – which work beyond the 200 nautical mile of Rapa Nui. The Round Table of the Sea, a non-profit organization called “Te Mau o te Vaikava o Rapa Nui”, organized this exposition of amateur art and painting done with the recycled marine rubbish, within the program of the celebration of the Month of the Sea (May). The workshop was led by the artist Sebastián Pakarati with the objective of promoting marine conservation on the Island. MANA Gallery also offers a wide selection of books, designer jewelry, paintings and art in mahute (bark cloth).
