It is a small academy for the learning of the Rapa Nui and Polynesian culture with special incidence in the field of dance and its varied rhythms and songs.
About us
Nancy Manutomatoma, founder of Varua Ora, comes from a family of singers, musicians and dancers and dedicates a great part of her life to the constant promotion of the cultural development and the ancestral traditions of Rapa Nui, and especially to everything related to her traditional dance .
Varua Ora was born in March of 2010 as a small academy for learning the Rapa Nui and Polynesian culture with special emphasis on the field of dance and its varied rhythms and songs. Varua Ora has represented her land by participating in foreign festivals, such as the Bird Festival in Tahiti in 2012 and 2014; or the Andilly festival in France, one of the most visited in Europe.
Today Varua Ora invites you to enjoy their work through ancestral dances such as the Hoko (war dance), the Kai-Kai (string game), the Ute (ancient songs) and the representation of local legends. Dances from our Polynesian brothers are also offered, such as otea and aparima (traditional Tahiti dances).
We also do private performances for special groups, charters and cruises.
