Remodeling the installations at Rano Raraku<\/span><\/strong><\/h1>\n

The Rapa Nui National Park advances towards sustainable tourism of world quality.<\/p>\n

One of the objectives of the Rapa Nui National Park, since it is under the administration of the Ma’u Henua Indigenous Community, has been to improve the Park’s infrastructure through a design with low visual impact and in keeping with the environment surrounding the archaeological sites. of Rapa Nui.<\/p>\n

In this sense, during the two years of administration, the Projects Unit of the Planning Department of the Indigenous Community, has improved and repaired the huts of the muto’i (park rangers) that guard the places, both in the materiality of the facilities as in sustainable use<\/p>\n

of resources, adding initiatives such as ecoba\u00f1os, biodigesters, solar panels and rainwater collection system, counting to date with 6 ecoba\u00f1os and an active biodigester in the sector of Rano Raraku.In the same line, during 2018, we worked on the remodeling project of the Rano Raraku complex, an initiative that seeks to remodel the infrastructure surrounding the volcano, in order to deliver a tourist service according to the number of tourists visiting this site patrimonial.<\/p>\n

The remodeling includes improving the shelter of the park rangers, the entrance booth, the garden area, the interpretive center for tourist information, basic cafeteria services, bathrooms, dining and first aid, changing vehicular access and strengthening the point of sale that currently have the artisans of the island. The objective is to reorder the current facilities, making all the services are connected to each other through a walk that facilitates the tour of the tourists through the touristic site of Rano Raraku.

\nThe crafts people who work in the area have been major contributors to the design of the project, participating in round table workshops in which the restructuring of the spaces was determined in<\/p>\n

accordance with local architectural styles and incorporating the natural scenery that surrounds the site.<\/p>\n

The project will be completed in several stages. Currently, it is in the phase of definition of budget and will then pass for approvals in order to begin the first steps of remodeling during 2019.<\/p>\n

Climatic conditions on the Island demand constant work in maintenance of installations in the open air. The Projects Division of Ma’u Henua knows this and is working, bit by bit, day by day, to improve the security measures of the Park to fulfill the international standards demanded.<\/p>\n

Over a slightly longer term, the Indigenous community projects advances in initiatives related to the care of the environment, the social areas, agriculture, culture and heritage and opening new and better areas of encounter in the Rapa Nui National Park for use by the community and the<\/p>\n
