Rapa Nui is an oasis in the middle of the Pacific Ocean and a feeding habitat for marine turtles. The most commonly found species are the Green turtle (Chelonia mydas) and the Carey, or Hawksbill, turtle (Eretmochelys imbricata), both in danger of extinction.
