Cultural and Infrastructure Projects with the Cultural Council

The Chilean Minister of Culture, Ernesto Ottone, attended the inauguration of the Tapati Festival 2016.  He considers the event to be the most important cultural commemoration of Polynesia and one of the most authentic within Chile.  The Cultural Council sponsors and supports this annual reunion, primarily for the important role that it has in the recovery of cultural heritage and traditions to be passed down to the coming generations.  “For us, it is important to share and transmit all that this inititive implies, since Easter Island is part of Chile and, as such, it is vital that we continue to develop activities which strengthen multiculturalism”, stated Minister Ottone, as he carried out an intense agenda of work with the community, especially through the Municipality, to develop and define projects for culture, heritage and infrastructure, all of which are very necessary in this most distant inhabited spot on the planet.
